Accounting Manager – Insurance Financial Reporting

The opportunity
This role is ideal for someone with insurance accounting experience who enjoys analytical work, financial reporting, and interacting with senior leadership, without the intense hours typical of public accounting.
You will work directly with CFOs, controllers, and finance leaders across multiple entities, on highly analytical work that includes financial reporting and accounting research. The role is fully remote within the U.S., working Eastern Time hours.
Key responsibilities
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for insurance entities
Analyze financial results and prepare variance analyses and reporting packages
Support regulatory and statutory reporting
Research and apply U.S. GAAP and statutory accounting guidance, and prepare technical accounting memos
Review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial schedules
Support external audits and keep workpapers audit-ready
Review internal controls and maintain strong documentation
Partner with CFOs and finance leaders on financial insights, and present analysis and recommendations
Help improve processes and reporting structures across entities
Ideal profile
5+ years of accounting experience
Background in insurance accounting or insurance industry financial reporting
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP or statutory accounting
Experience reviewing financial statements and accounting workpapers
Strong analytical and communication skills
Ability to work Eastern Time hours
Nice to have: CPA or CPA track, experience with captive insurance, insurance management, or insurance advisory, and experience supporting external audits or regulatory reporting.
Compensation & benefits
Base salary of $100,000 to $130,000 depending on experience, with bonus potential, a fully remote work environment, and strong work-life balance.
