Assistant Project Manager – Industrial Construction
A growing industrial construction and engineering organization is hiring an Assistant Project Manager with one to three years of experience and a clear path to Project Manager.
Industry
Construction
Salary
$67,900–$93,400
About the company
A growing industrial construction and engineering organization in the Wichita area working on large, complex projects in energy, renewable fuels, manufacturing, and industrial construction. It prioritizes developing and promoting talent internally, and relocation assistance is available.
The opportunity
If you have started your career in construction, engineering, project coordination, or project controls and know you ultimately want to be a Project Manager, this is a way to make that move intentionally. You will work directly alongside experienced Project Managers and get hands-on exposure to the full project lifecycle.
This is not intended to be a career-long coordinator position. The goal is to develop someone who progressively takes on more ownership and advances into a Project Manager role managing complex, high-value projects.
You will learn how to manage budgets, schedules, procurement, subcontractors, change orders, and customers, with both office and field exposure.
Key responsibilities
Support projects from initial planning through construction, commissioning, and closeout
Assist with project budgets, forecasts, schedules, and progress reporting
Coordinate with engineering, construction, procurement, accounting, and other internal teams
Help manage relationships with vendors, subcontractors, customers, and project stakeholders
Prepare and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, action items, procurement logs, and project documentation
Assist with quotes, bid packages, and proposal evaluation
Track equipment, materials, and subcontractor deliverables against project schedules
Monitor project costs, commitments, milestones, and risks, and prepare weekly and monthly status reports
Assist with startup, commissioning, punch lists, and closeout
Ideal profile
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Management, or a related discipline
Roughly one to three years of relevant experience, including internships or co-ops
Exposure to construction, engineering, project coordination, project controls, or field operations
Industrial construction, manufacturing, energy, or renewable energy experience is a plus
Familiarity with Microsoft Project or other scheduling tools is helpful, as is exposure to drawings, AutoCAD, or engineering documentation
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
A desire to learn, take ownership, and grow into a Project Manager
Compensation & benefits
The posted base salary range is $67,900 to $93,400, with relocation assistance available for the right candidate. Full detail on the package is shared at intake before you speak to the client.
How to apply
Three ways to start the conversation.
Send your résumé, book a call, or apply straight from the LinkedIn posting. Whichever route you pick, one person handles your application from first reply to offer.
