Jobs
Controls Sales Engineer
An established building automation and systems integration company is hiring a Controls Sales Engineer for its Denver team, with an existing customer base and backlog.
Industry
Building Automation
Salary
$110,000–$195,000
About the company
An established building automation and systems integration company with a long history in the industry and a growing national footprint. Its Denver team has an established customer base, a strong backlog, and the infrastructure to support continued growth, with the financial backing of a larger organization and the autonomy of a local business.
The opportunity
This is a chance for an experienced controls salesperson to step into an established market with existing customers, strong relationships, and real project opportunities already in motion, across some of the region’s most complex facilities: laboratories, data centers, manufacturing, higher education, and stadiums.
You will work with customers to understand their needs and develop HVAC controls and building automation solutions, with technical ownership of the solution but without having to manage project execution.
This is technical sales, not transactional sales. You do not need to be a controls programmer, but you should understand the HVAC and mechanical environment you are selling into and be comfortable with sophisticated customers, engineers, and mechanical contractors. The role is onsite in Denver.
Key responsibilities
Develop new business and expand existing relationships
Review construction documents, plans, and specifications
Develop technical proposals and estimates
Present solutions to customers and stakeholders
Own opportunities from initial conversation through close
Work closely with project managers, technicians, and programmers
Stay involved with customers through project execution and change orders
Identify additional opportunities within existing accounts
Ideal profile
A background such as controls sales engineer, building automation sales, BAS account management, HVAC controls sales, mechanical or HVAC sales with strong controls exposure, or controls project management or estimating
Experience with HVAC controls, BAS, building automation, Tridium Niagara, or Schneider Electric is highly valued
Understands the HVAC and mechanical environment and can talk credibly with engineers and contractors
A mechanical, electrical, construction, or related engineering degree is preferred; relevant experience matters as much
Compensation & benefits
A target base of approximately $110,000 to $120,000, a guaranteed first-year commission structure of approximately $60,000 to $65,000 for the right candidate, 10% commission on gross margin with the opportunity to exceed the guarantee, and total earnings of $200,000 or more for strong producers. Benefits include a 401(k) with a 6% match, 100% company-paid individual health coverage, 50% company-paid family coverage, a $400 per month vehicle allowance, and professional development.
How to apply
Three ways to start the conversation.
Send your résumé, book a call, or apply straight from the LinkedIn posting. Whichever route you pick, one person handles your application from first reply to offer.
