A growing industrial equipment manufacturer and service organization expanding its field service team. It has an established technician career path that takes successful apprentices into Refractory Lead, Senior Service Technician, Technical Specialist, and field service leadership positions.
The opportunity
This is an entry-level opportunity with hands-on training. You will travel to customer sites throughout the U.S. to help repair, rebuild, and maintain industrial equipment, learning specialized refractory and industrial service skills as you go.
No refractory experience is required. Backgrounds in construction, manufacturing, automotive, mechanical work, welding, concrete, masonry, industrial labor, or maintenance translate well. The client is looking for mechanical aptitude, reliability, a safety mindset, and a willingness to learn.
This is a high-travel field position, roughly 50 to 100 percent depending on project demand. Candidates can live anywhere in the U.S. but should be comfortable being away from home for several days to a week at a time, with occasional longer assignments.
Key responsibilities
Assist with demolition and removal of refractory materials
Help install brick, castable refractory, ceramic fiber, and insulation
Prepare and mix materials according to specifications
Operate hand and power tools
Assist experienced technicians with equipment repairs and rebuilds
Prepare and maintain safe, organized jobsites
Follow PPE, lockout/tagout, and confined-space safety procedures
Travel to customer facilities for service projects
Ideal profile
High school diploma or GED
Mechanical aptitude and comfort with basic tools
Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting 50 pounds or more
Comfortable climbing and working in confined spaces or at heights
Strong work ethic and dependable attendance
Safety-minded and willing to follow established procedures
Coachable, with a desire to learn a skilled trade
Willing and able to travel extensively, and able to pass a pre-employment drug screening
Compensation & benefits
$22 to $32 per hour based on experience, with paid travel time, a travel per diem, individual hotel accommodations, tool and safety-equipment allowances, 14 days of PTO in the first year, paid federal holidays, and medical, dental, and vision insurance with the company covering 50% of health insurance costs.
