Project Controller

A growing industrial construction and engineering company is hiring Project Controllers to help build its Project Controls function across cost, schedule, change, and risk.

Industry

Construction

Salary

$110,000–$130,000
About the company

A growing industrial construction and engineering company in the Wichita area that is investing heavily in how it plans, tracks, and delivers complex projects in energy, renewable fuels, and advanced manufacturing. A $12,000 relocation bonus is available.

The opportunity

You will join a newly developing Project Controls team and work alongside an experienced Senior Project Controller to create better visibility across cost, schedule, progress, change, risk, and project performance. You will have a voice in the processes, reporting, dashboards, and operating rhythms the team uses going forward.

The work spans the whole discipline rather than one slice of it: budgets and forecasting, scheduling and progress, earned value and KPIs, change logs, risk registers, and the weekly and monthly reporting leadership uses to make decisions.

Because the function is being built now, this is a chance to join early, learn directly from senior leadership, and grow into Senior Project Controls, Project Management, or broader project leadership as the organization expands.

Key responsibilities
  • Track budgets, commitments, actual costs, accruals, forecasts, and projected final costs, and analyze budget-to-actual variances

  • Support cost-to-complete, cash flow, contingency, and margin analysis

  • Develop and maintain project schedules with Project Managers, tracking milestones from engineering through closeout

  • Identify critical-path activities, constraints, and potential delays, and support lookahead schedules and recovery plans

  • Perform variance and trend analysis, track KPIs, and support earned value concepts such as CPI and SPI

  • Maintain project change logs and follow changes from identification through approval and baseline updates

  • Maintain risk and opportunity registers and escalate emerging issues early

  • Prepare weekly and monthly project controls reports and dashboards

Ideal profile
  • 3+ years in project controls, project engineering, cost control, scheduling, construction, EPC, capital projects, industrial projects, manufacturing, or another project-based environment

  • Experience with some combination of budgets, forecasting, scheduling, progress measurement, variance analysis, change management, procurement tracking, risk, or project reporting

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, strong Excel skills, and comfort working with project data

  • Able to communicate with Project Managers, engineers, construction teams, procurement, finance, and leadership, and to challenge assumptions with data

  • Willing to be hands-on while the team is being built

  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, Finance, or a related field is preferred; meaningful project experience matters more

Industrial construction, EPC, energy, renewable fuels, manufacturing, or complex capital project experience is especially valuable, as is familiarity with Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Power BI, or Microsoft Dynamics 365.

Compensation & benefits

The posted base salary range is $110,000 to $130,000, plus a $12,000 relocation bonus. Full detail on the package is shared at intake before you speak to the client.

How to apply

Three ways to start the conversation.

Send your résumé, book a call, or apply straight from the LinkedIn posting. Whichever route you pick, one person handles your application from first reply to offer.
