$30–$37/hr
About the company
A growing industrial equipment manufacturer and service organization expanding its field service operation. Its technician career framework progresses from Refractory Lead to Senior Service Technician and Service Specialist, and the company rotates its technicians where possible to help prevent burnout.
The opportunity
This is a hands-on field leadership position for someone who knows how to execute industrial refractory work while leading a small crew, planning the job, maintaining safety, and keeping projects on schedule. The role bridges basic labor execution and advanced technical service.
You will travel extensively to customer facilities throughout the U.S. for equipment repairs, rebuilds, preventative maintenance, and refractory installation projects.
This is a true traveling field service position, roughly 50 to 100 percent. Projects commonly require several days to a week away from home, and some assignments run longer. Candidates can live anywhere in the U.S.
Key responsibilities
Lead daily field activities for refractory repair and installation projects
Supervise, train, and mentor apprentice-level technicians
Plan and sequence demolition, preparation, installation, curing, and inspection work
Install and repair brick, castable refractory, and ceramic fiber systems
Stage labor, materials, tools, and equipment for efficient project execution
Perform basic mechanical disassembly and reassembly, work with gas-train components, and support basic electrical disconnect and reconnect activities
Follow proper curing, dry-out, and testing procedures and maintain project documentation
Enforce OSHA and company safety requirements
Communicate job status, risks, and project needs to leadership and deliver projects on schedule
Ideal profile
2 to 5 years of refractory, industrial maintenance, or related field service experience
Working knowledge of refractory materials and installation and repair techniques
Experience leading small crews in field environments
Strong mechanical aptitude and basic electrical knowledge
Ability to read technical instructions, drawings, and job scopes
Strong safety record and a safety-first mindset
Ability to work in high-heat, confined-space, and physically demanding industrial environments
Willing to travel extensively, and able to pass a pre-employment drug screening
Especially relevant backgrounds: refractory contractors, industrial maintenance, boilers, combustion systems, power generation, waste-to-energy, incineration, cement plants, foundries, steel mills, industrial shutdowns, mechanical contracting, and oil and gas.
Compensation & benefits
Hourly pay in the $30s to mid-$30s depending on experience, with paid travel time, a travel per diem, individual hotel accommodations, tool and safety-equipment allowances, 14 days of PTO in the first year, paid federal holidays, and medical, dental, and vision insurance with the company covering 50% of health insurance costs.
How to apply
