A growing public accounting firm in North Carolina is hiring a Senior Audit Associate to help lead engagements and mentor junior staff, from its Charlotte, Raleigh, or Wilmington office.

The opportunity

This role suits an auditor with a strong foundation in public accounting who enjoys working with a variety of clients and is ready for more responsibility in running engagements and mentoring junior staff.

You will work across nonprofits, government entities, affordable housing, educational institutions and charter schools, employee benefit plans, captive insurance, construction, and other commercial industries, with direct access to audit leadership.

The role is hybrid, with roughly three to five days a week in the Charlotte, Raleigh, or Wilmington office.

Key responsibilities
  • Perform audits, reviews, compilations, and other attest engagements under the direction of Audit Managers and Partners

  • Help lead engagements, keeping them compliant with professional standards and on deadline

  • Review and supervise the work of junior auditors, providing guidance and feedback

  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with applicable standards

  • Analyze financial data, evaluate internal controls, and identify risks and process improvements

  • Support audit planning, including risk assessments, scope, and timelines

  • Execute complex audit procedures, account testing, and detailed financial analyses

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships

Ideal profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred

  • 3+ years of public accounting or audit experience

  • CPA certification, or active progress toward it, preferred

  • Strong understanding of GAAP, auditing standards, and financial reporting

  • Proficiency with audit software and Microsoft Office

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

  • Strong communication skills, working directly with clients and internal teams

  • Ability to manage multiple engagements and prioritize deadlines

Compensation & benefits

The posted base salary range is $105,000 to $110,000. Benefits include flexible paid time off, medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) with employer matching, life insurance, paid parental leave, hybrid work flexibility, coverage of CPA licensing and continuing education fees, and company outings.
